SMAS Worksafe is a UK scheme that checks contractors' health and safety. It is run by Sypol and is recognised by many clients.
Not by law. However, some clients and main contractors ask for it before awarding work.
Register on the SMAS website and complete the online assessment with your documents. An assessor reviews it and you renew yearly.
You need an H&S policy, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), training records and valid insurance certificates.
